Dear Friends,
A few months back, a patient was talking about how her daughter had a urinary tract infection. I asked matter of factly, “You’re wiping her A-to-P, correct?” For those of you trying to figure this out… I meant Anterior (front) to Posterior (back). Her interpretation of the abbreviation was VERY different. 😂
Sometimes they have consequences – but at least this was remedied quickly.
Bladder infections can be quite serious, especially as we age.
Here are a few key actions steps to take for bladder and kidney health:
1. Drink lots of water. This consistently flushes out the kidneys and bladder.
2. Stagnant water creates an environment for infection, so don’t hold in your urine too long.
3. Watch which way you wipe! (Say that 5 times fast.) Wiping “back to front” brings the bugs to the bladder 🙂
4. Work on learning diaphragmatic breathing. This activates your deep core muscles, but also activates and strengthens your pelvic floor!
5. If you’re using cranberry juice for an infection, it should NOT have added sugar!
Supplements that can help with urinary tract health:
