Dear Friends,
Last summer Dr. Jean and our nephew were repainting our bedroom. I walked in halfway through the project and said, “Oh, you’re painting the bedroom red! It looks good.” To which my wife responded, “We’re painting it white- it’s been red the last 5 years.” “Oops!”
It’s easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of life and miss the surroundings that shape the world we live in. I know I’m guilty of zooming by at Mach 5. The problem is, I want to get everything in. I love too many things.
It’s REALLY important to slow down and live in the present moment. While living in it, learn to appreciate it. This appreciation will help you operate in the “rest and digest” state of your nervous system, aka your parasympathetic. This is better than “fight or flight” or a sympathetic state that most of us live in (guilty as charged).
Constantly living in a “fight or flight” state wears away at your adrenal health, which then affects everything. If you feel TIRED or WIRED then you qualify as adrenal fatigued! This pace can truly wear you out.
Try to find something that slows you down at least once a day. This could be a walk, stretching, yoga, meditation, sitting in a sauna or hot tub, or even a nice long shower. But slow down and appreciate those quiet moments.
Acknowledge a few things in your life that are going well. This helps set good energy that will manifest more of the same mental, spiritual, and physical contentment.
