- Miss April?
Dear Friends,
As I walked into the room, I heard an 85 year old patient giving numbers to my staff ’36-26-30’. I said, “What are you Miss April?” And she replied “I have always told people I wanted my SS# to be my body measurements!”
I thought that was great because there’s a reason they always that youth is wasted on the young! They feel so invincible and in a way, they are. Many can do what they please and the testosterone and human growth hormone just keeps pumping away and makes them feel like superhero.
The best way to age well is be young well.
I have heard time and time again “If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.” Oh Regret! Share your wisdom with youth and give them a head start; for example when my son mocks my hairline, I quote the comedian Mel Brooks, “We mock what we are to become!”
The fact is that aging well should be beautiful. I mean gravity is a son of a gun but if you take care of your diet, exercise, and get sleep from a young age, Sir Isaac Newton shouldn’t bite you too bad.
It isn’t your DNA it is your Dinner.
I have seen thousands of patients and friends. The ones who live the “life habits” I promote tend to fair much healthier and happier than the ones who don’t, who tend to suffer. I am not taking credit-no no no. I have learned from them as I have used my practice as a window to the future.
You want to be a great quarterback? Learn from the best. Hmm…that cycle has worked pretty well for the Packers: 3 quarter backs in 31 years I have been in Plymouth. My childhood team, the Cleveland Browns, had 5. last. season. alone.
Your health is like a quarterback with a good game plan. It isn’t rocket science, it’s instead good habits that will build health over time. So learn from the people who do it right and also you can learn a lot from the people who don’t.
So quit blaming age and start looking at your game plan.
Hut hut hike. Get on it!
God Bless,
Dr. Dan
