A couple of my dearest friends have children that have type 1 diabetes.  Two of my adult friends with type 1 diabetes have died from to low of blood sugar while sleeping. And there are others dear to me who live with this disease every day.

Unfortunately, the above situation is shared by just about everyone reading this letter. As it is with many diseases, the progress to find cures or at least functional cures (meaning letting the person live normal) is quite slow. Type 1 diabetes is different.  They are making incredible advancements with continuous glucose monitors, insulin delivery systems, phones apps to help alert the patient when they are low….

These advancements are life saving and life changing for the type 1 diabetic who has to manage this disease 24/7/365.

In 2019 I rode the JDRF diabetes ride in La Crosse, WI with my friends and their children. We are doing the 100 mile ride again this August and this ride not only raises money for research but raises awareness as well.

The Ride

I am reaching out to ask for donations for the JDRF research. I am VERY picking about where I donate/invest and I feel the return on this charity is one of the most efficient and result driven.  In fact the changes and advancements since we did this ride in 2019 have been incredible.

Here is a link to my fundraising page. If you are not tech savvy and wish to donate in person, you can make a check out to the JDRF and drop it at the office.

My goal is $2500.

The benefits of this research will benefit us all as the continuous glucose monitors are showing to be extremely helpful in guiding people with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome to health.  That means it will help one out of two people reading this letter.

Thank you for your support and check Facebook and Instagram to see footage from the ride!
